At Old Quebec Street Mall, our concern for the well-being of the Guelph community is what drives our passion for the expression or arts and culture. That is why we are proud to be hosting the upcoming Hospice Wellington Art Therapy Exhibition, taking place from Friday, September 15 to Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

Art therapy is the use of psychotherapy in combination with creative art expression. It is used as an alternative to talk therapies as some individuals find this kind of verbal communication difficult following trauma. What comes out of this therapy can be a beautiful depiction of the struggles and triumphs of life.

The Hospice Wellington Art Therapy Exhibition will feature the works of elders from a number of different cultural backgrounds and will explore various aspects of their lives. During a nine-week closed group process, the individuals used creative art-making to illuminate their personal understanding and beliefs surrounding several relevant topics, including family, home and community.

Family and friends of the group participants are invited to attend the opening reception, taking place on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 6:30-9:00pm. The general public is invited to engage with this week long exhibit taking place at Old Quebec Street Shoppes (Wyndham Street North) in downtown Guelph starting Friday, September 16 to Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 12:00 to 6:00pm daily. Contact them to learn more about Hospice Wellington and the upcoming exhibit.
